WET BANK HOLIDAY
WORST FOR TEH YEARS MANY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, August 5. The wettest bank holiday for ten years drove holiday makers indoors. Gales and thunderstorms made bathing and boating almost impossible. Tho King’s Yacht Britannia withdrew from the day’s racing, only one of the other two competitors finishing. Scores of visitors arrived at seaside resorts carrying coats, which were quickly soaked. The majority of sports fixtures were cancelled. Serious accidents, in which there was a death roll of twenty-four, marred the holiday. Two trains from Blackpool collided, 100 of the passengers being sent to hospital. At Hampstead Heath the holiday was kept up with traditional Cockney enthusiasm.
