TREATMENT OF LEPROSY
SUCCESSFUL RESULTS IN AFRICA CAPE TOWN, July 11. Dr Cochrane, secretary of tho British Leprosy Association, who has completed a tour from Egypt to Cape Town, states that the outlook in South 'Africa is good. Leprosy is on the decline. Only about a dozen cases are discovered every year compared with forty some years ago. Segregation, with a good living standard, eliminates leprosy in tho worst areas among the Central African tribes, who depend on kassava root as their staple diet, he says. A leper under treatment in the early stage of the disease wa. more likely to recover than a tuberculous patient.
