DRUIDISM

The Royal Oak Lodge held its meeting in the lodge room, Cayersham, A.D. Bro. Steele presiding. The Cy.i : Bro. Thompson, accompanied by tiros. Huu tand Ruston (Board of Management), were present officially, ana I were received with Druidic honouxs. ' The secretary was instructed to torward a letter of congratulation to itnj terprise Lodge on winning the Ross Shield competition. The balance-sheet and auditors’ report for the half-year | were submitted by tho secretary, ana, ' after discussion, were adopted. Bros. Ruston and Dove were appointed scrutineers for tho election of district president of No. 2 district. Prior to the election, P.A. Bro. Durable (Mistletoe) and P.A. Bro. Bartlett (Bay) addressed the meeting, each putting forth his claims for the above office. The following officers were duly installed by Bro. Ruston:—A.D., Bro. F Hudson; V.A., Bro. Purser; secretary, Bro. A. E. Churchill (re-elected) ; treasurer, Bro. A. Mitchell (reflected); 1.G., Bro. F. Jones; 0.G., Bro. W. Churchill; A.D.8., Bros. Robertson and Johnston; V.A.8., Bios. Wilson and Tidey; minute secretary, Bro. W. Hudson; M.C., Bro. Hunt; 1 pianist, Bro. Hudson. One proposition • for membership was handed in. Ihe arrangements for the dance next lodge night was left to the Social Commi tee. G.P. Bro. Thompson, Bros. Hunt and Ruston (Board of Management), P.G.P. Bro. Dove, P.A. Bro. Dumble i (Mistletoe). P.A. Bro. Bartlett (Bay; 1 replied to the toast of the visitors. A large number of members greeted 1 A.D. Bro. W. G. Leathley when ho opened tho meeting of Enterprise Lodge, and a very instructive evening was spent by those present. During the evening two candidates wcie admitted into the mysteries of Druidism, . the initiation ceiemony being carried out on the same lines as those that won I for this lodge the Ross Stewart Shield. I Bro. E. H. Bezett brought forward tho matter of the presentation of the shield, and the secretary was instructed to arrange for July 2 as the date for i the function. Grand President Bro. i George Thompson, P.A. Bro. H. Hunt (Board of Management), and P.A. Bro. A Horwood (Board of Management) were present in their official capacity, and were tendered a hearty welcome. The ballot for the office of district president was taken, and the Grand President collected tho papers for conveyance to grand secretary. The secretary presented tho balance-sheet for the past six months,- and it is pleasing to note that the lodge finance is in a good position, and after some discussion the balance-sheet, as presented, was adopted. Grand President Bro. G. Thompson, assisted by P.A. Bro. H. Hunt, performed the task of installing tho newly-elected officers to their respective chairs, and at the close of the

ccremonv a very hearty vote of thanks was accorded the installing officers for the very effective manner in which they had carried out their duties, same being earned by acclamation. At the close of the eveaing three propositions were handed in. Grand President Bro. Thompson, P.A. Bro. A. Horwood, and P.A. Bro. H. Hunt replied to the toast of tho Grand Lodge. Supper was then handed roi ml, which brought a very enjoyable evening to a close. Tho visitors were;—Grand President Bro. George Thompson, P.A. Bro. A. Horwood. and P.A. Bro. H. Hunt (Board of Management), P.D.P Bro. H. G. lord (Lily of the Valley), P.A. Bro. E Bartlett (Bay Lodge), P.A. Bro. Dumble (Misuetoe). . . A largo number of members and visi-tors-greeted Arch Druid Bro. J. C. S. Logie when lie opened tho half-yearly meeting of the Mistletoe Lodge (Green Island). The V.G.P., G.T., and members of the Board of Management were admitted, and were cordially welcomed with musical honours. Committee repjrts ueio roeeiveo from P A. Bro. A. Mildenhall regarding euchre, from Bro. Barnes on attending meeting of band, and M.C. Bro. Johns regarding the heating of the hall. The arrangements [oi entertaining Bay Lodge next lodge night were left in the hands of the Social Committee. Grand Treasurer Bro. Birt, assisted by P.A. Bro. Webb (Enterprise), then installed tho officers of the lodge. The incoming officers returned thanks. The lodge then moved a vote of thanks to the installing officers for the very efficient manner in which they carried out their duties. It was moved that a hearty vote of thanks bo accorded P.A. Bro. Dumble for having passed through tho chairs, that he he presented with a framed diploma, and his name placed on the merit board. Tho usual toasts vyere duly honoured, and replied to. Visitors for the evening were: V.G.P. Bro. M'Leod, G.T. Bro. Birt, P.G.P. Bfo. Watson, P.A Bro. Hunt (Royal Oak), P.A. Bro. Webb (Enterprise), P.A. Bro. Bartlett (Bay), A.D. Bro. Carr and officers of Lily of the Valley and the Arch Druid and outside guardian of Pride of Mornington Lodge. Arch Druid Bro. Reynolds then adjourned the lodge for supper and cards.
