THE POPULAR BUTTON

Buttons are tremendously popular just now. We have rows of covered buttons down the back of a coat-frock, or tiny pearl ones running down the front of the bodice of an afternoon frock, or a model may havo a doublebreasted effect, with two rows of buttons. The buttons seen on sports frocks are of dyed wool, in bright shades to match the flocks in the tweed. Orange, scarlet, or blue ones look smart and original on rough material. A laco jabot gives a dainty finish to a collarless afternoon frock, whilst a little cream or snow-white vestee, with rows of pearl buttons, is ideal for smartening a plain little business dross. Frocks of very light-weight tweed are literally “ all the rage " just now. Thev have matching coats, but presently we shall be able to wear them without the coats. The choice of patterns and mixtures is so great as to be almost bewildering, and so there should bo no difficulty in finding a really becoming shade and pattern. The new belted suits with their double-breasted hip-length jackets and full skirts, are very smart. To preserve the slim line, it is usual to omit pockets, just adding lines of machinestitching, finished with sprats’ heads to give a pocket effect.
