CRICKET GYMKHANA
A “ brilliant gymkhana ” is how next Saturday’s big events at Forbury Park and the Carisbrook Ground are described, and, judging by the brightness.and variety of tho offering as set out in tho advertisement, tho description is well applied. The effort is being made in order to raise funds for the support of cricket in Otago and has been organised by the Otago Cricket Association. Apart from tho very worthy object, however, the attractiveness of tho entertainment should appeal to tho public, and no doubt, should tho weather bo at all favourable, thcro will be big attendances both afternoon and evening. The programmes include athletic events (including special events for cricketers), motor competitions, physical drill, Boy Scout demonstration, rescue races, and. such unusual events as “ musical chairs ” on horseback, rascuo racing, a Hunt Club display, and a “draught horse derby”; this latter should create, a great deal of amusement. In addition, there will bo hand music and, as a finale, a display of fireworks. In tho evening, at Carisbrook, additional attractions will be provided in the nature of “ rolldowns,” skittles, and other side shows. Particulars are advertised.
