ALEXANDER WATSON RECITALS
The visit to New Zealand of Mr Alexander Watson, for his sixth tour of the dominion, is singularly apropos, in view of the keen discussion at present raging around the speech of New Zealanders, for there is no finer exponent of the King’s English than this cultured entertainer. Mr Watson’s season of recitals commences at the Town Hall Concert Chamber on .Tuesday night, and will bo continued nightly. Ills first programme includes selections from Sir J. M. Barrie’s story, ‘The Little Minister/ which so delighted large audiences last tour. The second part of the programme introduces some new works to Watson audiences—‘The Listeners/ by Walter de la Mare; ‘The World’s Workers’ (‘The Millionaire’ and ‘ The Actor’), by Harry Graham; A. P. Herbert’s ‘Laughing Ann/ and new selections from A. A. Milne’s works, "Now We Are Six * and ‘ When Wo Were Very Young.’ On Wednesday night Mr Watson will present John Masefield’s thrilling narrative poem, ‘ The Everlasting Mercy/ which he recited on a previous tour. Masefield’s stirring work is considered by many to be the finest selection in the popular entertainer’s repertoire. Miscellaneous selections constitute the second part of the recital. The first four programmes may be obtained, and the box plans are open.
