CROQUET

OTAGO ASSOCIATION'S TOURNAMENT The Croquet Association has had wonderful weather right through the tournament, Saturday morning breaking bright and clear, and making conditions for play ideal. The B grade matches this year have brought out some very promising players. The game between Mrs O’Kane (Alexandra) and Mrs Watson (Balmacewen) was an interesting one; both ladies played well. The Alexandra player has a very good style, and only needs practice to become a first-class player. In the finals of the B doubles, among four Leith players, the game on the whole was rather slow After Miss Forrester took her half bisque, this pair kept in the lead until the finish, which was very doss, 26-23. Mrs Run (Alexandra) played very well against Mrs Forrester; the game was very equal, Mrs Ruff winning by only two points;. , , .. In the final of the A grade handicap Mrs Corbett got in and made a break of eleven hoops, laying up tor her partner, who only made a hoop or two. In-and-out play followed, until Mrs Dixon got to the penultimate, but Mrs M‘Donald was not able to get op to her game, and after she broke down at two back, with her opponent near, the issue was never in doubt.
