CASH ATHLETICS

LOVELL'S FLAT SPORTS The eleventh annual gathering under the auspices of the Lovell’s Flat Caledonian Society was hold on Thursday in beautiful weather. There was an excellent attendance, th© gate receipts totalling £25 14s 6d, £1 7s 3d more than last year. The running eyems were most interesting, and close finishes were the order of the day. The dancing was also a feature, there being good competition and excellent work. The officials all worked well, and the gathering on the whole was very successful. Results:—

WAITAHUKA GATHERING The Waitahuna sports were held on the recreation ground on New Year’s Day, the weather being fine though cold. ' y There was a satisfactory attendance of the public some cl&se finishes being witnessed. In the evening a concert party from Dunedin presented an excellent programme in Brown’s Hall, a large audience being present. The party con-* sisted of Mrs Carty, Miss M. Pratt, Miss Matheson, Mr J.
