A POLICE RAID MAN FINED FOR BOOKMAKING [Pxk Uxitgd Press Association.] HAMILTON, December 31. Harry Abraham Samuels, tailor, was fined £IOO for keeping a common gaming house and £2OO for bookmaking. His premises were raided on New Year’s Eve, when a large quantity of - betting material was found. The, evidence showed that the accused was in a large way. , Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., said that Samuels had been convicted previously, and on that occasion lie had been inadequately fined. The business was now apparently extensive, the annual turnover being £IO,OOO. . The accused was further charged with bribery ami corruption—sending two detectives each a case of pipes and-£lO in money. He was remanded on bail of £2OO.
