NEW STEAMERS
FOR AUSTRALIAN TRADE LOANS FOR CONSTRUCTION. Press Association —By Telegraph —Copyright WASHINGTON, October 26. A contract covering the loans recentjy awarded to the Oceanic _ Steamship Company for the construction of two combination passenger and cargo vessels for the Australian trade was signed to-day by the Shipping Board, representatives of the company, and the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation, which will construct the steamers. The loans, which amount to 5,850, OOOdol for each ship, will represent three-quarters of the construction ccst. The vessels will have a speed of 20 knots per hour, and will be superior in type to others engaged in the same trade. They will be among t) e largest vessels yet un<? rtaken by American shipyards. The deadweight tonnage will be approximately 11,300. Two years will oe necessary for the completion of the ships. THE MATSON LINE. HONOLULU, October 25.
