OUTBURST AGAINST FRANCE
ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION OF PRINCE HUMBERT INDIGNATIBK IH ITALY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. ROME, October 25. The attempt on the life of Prince Humbert has produced a deplorable outburst of indignation against France, in consequence of which the French Legation is strongly guarded. •
To-day one extremist newspaper, employing big headlines, asks if Franco wants war, while other papers express their anger less crudely, but equally candidly. The main theme of all is that France has reached the parting of the ways, and must choose whether she throws in her lot with a few Italian renegades who are now domiciled in France or with the 40,000,000 Italians still domiciled in Italy. [lt was stated in a previous message that Di Rosa left Paris on Tuesday, and arrived at Brussels on Wednesday, with an out-of-date Swiss passport, but he was allowed to enter as he had a French identity card for foreigners, which was quite in order.] PRINCE LEAVES FOR ROME. EXTRAORDINARY PRECAUTIONS. BRUSSELS. October 26. Military searchlights followed the progress of the Royal party to the station when Prince Humbert left for Rome. Extraordinary precautions were taken to prevent unruly incidents.
