Douglas Fairbanks, who, with Jus wife, Mary Pickford. is enjoying a hobday in London, confided to one correspondent that lie wanted to retire, but ho couldn’t, as “Mary rules.” Miss Piokford, when asked what her chief ambition was, replied: “to become a better actress.” Thus she obviously has no intention of retiring, despite the fact that her first talkie, ‘ Coquette,’ was severely criticised.— Australian Press Association.
