'THE IDLE RIGH'
OPENING AT REGENT TOMORROW ‘The Idle Rich,’ another enjoyable production from the Metro-Goldwyn Mayer studios, will be presented at the Regent Theatre for a season commencing to-morrow. Directed by William De Mille, the film is said to be one of the most interesting productions yet shown in Auckland, as it deals largely with the home life of a typical middleclass family. Many leading artists ap pear in the film. Conrad Nagel, Bessie Love, and Leila Hyams are the principal players, and are supported by Robert Ober, James Neill. EaytJle Chapman, Paul Kruger, and Kenneth Gibson. Mr Nagel,, whose_ fine speaking voice has already won him a large following on the talking screen, has the role of a wealthy young American business man who falls in love with his pretty stenographer. Miss Love, whose work in ‘ The Broadway Melody ’ is of such outstanding merit, appears as a New York “ flapper,” a role which she is said to fill to advantage. Comedy, pathos, and human interest are said to have been included in the film, which deals with the career of William Van Luyn, a young millionaire who wishes to marry is stenographer, Joan Thayer, a member of a middle-class family. Joan’s people resent William’s inherited wealth, and the manner in which he finally wins the girl is told in a number of thrilling scenes. On the same bill is ‘ The Shady Lady,’ the second of the Paths attractions exclusive to the Regent. This production is a thrilling part-dialogue melodrama, with Phyllis Haver and Louis Wolherm in the principal parts.
