WAR THRILLS

LAUD CRUISERS DIRECTED BY RADIO. LONDON, October 5. A fight between 100 tanks, like a thrilling naval battle, was the outstanding feature of the military exercises on Salisbury Plain. Directed by means of wireless tele--1 phony, and spitting fire as they went, the great iron instruments of destruction resembled a herd of prehistoric monsters as they lumbered forward to the attack. The manoeuvres were described by Major-general Bruche, Military Attache at Australia House, in an exclusive interview with the special representative of the ‘ Sun.’ The exercises were held to test the organisation of a cavalry an infantry brigade, and a tank battalion. “The light tanks,” said Major-gen-eral Bruche, “ scuttled forward over the rolling country, and engaged each other with machine-gun fire. They then made way for the heavier tanks, which went into battle like a line of cruisers.” Vickers machine guns, drawn by light tanks, accompanied the first advancing line.
