(Received October 22, at 10.55 a.m.) Giving .evidence before the Coal Commission here Mr Stanley M'Kinsey, superintendent of Hebburn Collieries Limited, declared that during the six years preceding 1928 there were 119 strikes at Hebburn No. 2 colliery, involving a loss of 891 working day's. The fact that the miners would strike if any man was dismissed led to inefficiency. His company had not dismissed any member of the Miner’s Federation for twelve years. The high cost of stoppage made Ins company hesitat© about dismissing a troublesome or difficult employee.
