1 NEW ZEALAND ILLUSTRATED.’ There is a new style in the dominion’s Christmas publications. The feature that now receives first attention is illustration. In the past much space was given to verses and stories having for the most part a New Zealand atmosphere. Tnese publications are purchased principally to send to friends abroad, and experience has no doubt shown that pictures of our beauty spots well reproduced me most appreciated. 1 New Zealand illustrated,' the Christmas number of the Christchurch ‘ Press ’ is a line example of the illustratoi’s art. A great variety of scenery is included. Christchurch and the Canterbury province are naturally well represented, but there are also a number of magnificent views of Westland and the Wakatipu, Wanaka, and Hawea regions. There- are some characteristic North Island scenes as well. The judicious selection of mountain, river, sea, lake, and busk ukturcs makes up a very attractive number.
