TEXAS BEAUTY AWARD. 1.1-i (ioMyl bcilf’l 1 , of Auifi ia, has baon crowned “Miss Universe ” at ,th* “International Pageant Or Pulchritude ,r lit Galveston, Toiasl Six of the seven judges voted for Frauiein Goldarkeiter, the seventh giving his vote for Mile Magda Demetrcscu, who represented Ilpumauia. There were fen European competitors in the pageant, including “ Miss England ” —represented by. Miss Bennie Dicks. Miss Irene Ahlberg represented “ Miss United States.” The girls paraded first in evening dress and then in bathing costumes. “ Miss Universe ” will receive a prise of £4OO, and doubtless, a lucrative stage or film contract, ns well. .With downcast .eyes and dimpled cheeks, the dark-skinned Austrian beauty received the award as her due. Frauiein Goldarboiter’s brown hair, blue eyes, and slender figure, coupled with ,a certain refinement in her bearing,' made the work of the Judges easy. Miss Ahlberg received £2OO and another American girl £IOO. Of those getting £2O each, “ Miss Ronmania ” was the only European . candidate.
