WILLING TO HELP

INDEPENDENT AMD THE GOVERNMENT [From Ode Paeliaukstaet Reporter.] WELLINGTON, August 15. “ I personally desire to help the Go vorninent to make good,” was the opening sentence of Mr Lysnar (Independent member for Gisborne). However, ho soon became critical, and explained in reply to an interjection of surprise that he could contemplate voting for the present Ministers, that it was necessary to criticise them for their own good. That was the best help he could give. “No good letting them got int* the bog and mud; tell them before it is too late.” Mr Lysnar warned the Government aganst the land tax proposals, which were ruinous. He would prefer to impose income tax on everybody. Mr Wilford: Is that a Reform proposal ? Mr Lysnar: No: the Farmers’ Union favours it.
