RUN OVER BY TRUCKS. Andrew __ Archibald, a waterside worker, 77_ years of age, was mu over and killed instantly by a rake of trucks on the railway wharf, Wellington, at 6.10 last night. Several trucks were being shunted to No. 3 berth of the railway wharf, where they connected with other stationary trucks and set them in motion. Archibald, who was behind these, apparently, was knocked down, the wheels passing over his chest. The deceased lived with his wife at 33 Coromandel street. DROVER’S SUICIDE. An Association message from Gisborne states that Arthur Edward Burch, aged fifty-two, a drover, was found by his wife early this morning hanging by a stockwhip from a bluegum tree near his residence. DIED FROM INJURIES. Mrs Lillian Fear, a widow, aged fifty, of Claudelands (Hamilton), died this morning from injuries received in an accident on Wednesday. She was riding a cycle in Claudelands and collided with a car driven by T. W. Carter, of Cambridge. Carter and his passenger state that deceased came from behind another car and began to swerve across the road. She then attempted to swerve back to the left. She was earned with her cycle for some distance on the front of the car. Her injuries at first were thought not to be serious.—Press Association. MINER KILLED. A verdict of accidental death was returned at Hunlly at the inquest on Samuel Broadbent, killed by a fall of coal at Rotowaro mine on July 26. The evidence showed that his two mates, Joseph O’Brien and William H. Hcndeison, wore also involved in the fall of coal, which occurred while removing a pillar of coal. Henderson, though injured, helped to extricate O’Brien, but was unable to rescue Broadbent, who was covered by 3ft of coal. The jury added a rider that when miners were extracting pillar coal in isolated places shiftmen should be employed nearby in case of accident. The coroner (Mr Farrell) and the foreman of the jury (Mr E. George) remarked 0.. the bravery of Henderson in saving O’Briens life.—Hamilton message.'
