‘ PHY MAH,’ COMEDY SPECIAL COMING The Warner Bros.’ talking, singing, and sound vitaphono comedy special, entitled ‘ My Man,’ which stars Fannie Brice, considered to he the world’s greatest comedienne, will bo initially screened at the Empire on Friday afternoon. Fannie Brice is a name which picture “ fans ’’-'in Australia and New Zealand have hoard little, but in England and the United States it is very well knotfn. Miss Brice is said to be one of tho most popular stage stars on the other side of the world, and it is said that she is kept so busy.with engagements that she has little time to even consider paying a visit to this part of the world But we are not to be altogether deprived of seeing Fannie Brice, for she has made a tabling picture. In ‘My Alan’ Miss Brice sings several songs, dances, and talks throughout the production. The talkies will, no doubt, bring niany new faces to the screen, but none are said to be more famous than Fannie Brice. Dunedin picture patrons will bo able to judge for themselves the merit of this “■•iitar,” who has such a glowing reputation on the other'side of the world.

The talkie short subjects will include a number of entertaining lilms. Lois Wilson and Edward Everett Horton will be seen and heard in the comedy ‘ Miss intoi mation.’ The noted jazz orchestra, Waring’s Pennsylvanians, brought to. fame through H.M.V. records, will render some of the latest American dance music. Lina Basquette, supported by a cast of about fifty fegr tured players, will appear in a novelty production, entitled ‘ Visions of Spain.’ Another comedy sketch will show Elsie Janis. a noted comedienne, “up to her tricks.” A further film of the ./famous music master series, depicting the life and works of Bizet, will also be screened, and will be accompanied by Mr Leslie V. Harvey. The usual excellent musical programme will be in the capable hands of Mr Leslie V. Harvey (at The console of the Christie uixit organ) and M.
