G) was knocked out in the eighth round by Arthur Dekuh (15.9)), a prominent local Italian heavy-weight, at Starlight Park to-night. In the first round Dekuh’s long reach was troubling the Australian, and he also won the second and third rounds, although Cook fought hard in both. In the fourth round Dekuh, with a two-fisted attack, landed repeatedly to tho face. In the fifth there wore several clinches, and two rights to the face cut Cook’s eye. . In the sixth round tho Australian was down on one knee, and he rose with his nose and month bleeding. Tho seventh was Cook’s round. In the eighth round the men clinched, and suddenly Cook dropped bo the canvas, holding his abdomen and claiming a foul, but the .referee counted him out. The seconds declared that the ioul was a left below the belt, landed in a clinch. The crowd booed tho victor, shouting “ foul.” The reporters agreed with the referee and the judge that there was no foul. The round had lasted sSsec.—Australian Press Association.
