CROSS-COUNTRY' CHAMPIONSHIP

LARGE ENTRIES RECEIVED Thirteen teams will contest the Otago five-mile cross-country championship at Wingatui next Saturday, and a very interesting race is anticipated. The holder of the individual title is • J. G. Barnes (who won the Canterbury championship last Saturday), but ho will not be competing this year. Caversham is the holder of the teams’ championship, and will probably be Found to be possessed of one of the most solid combinations on Saturday. It is quite on the cards that the issue will be fought out by two Caversham men—J. W. Tapp and J. J. Morris — but others who may be expected to show to advantage are W. H. B, Hobbs, J. H. M‘Larcn, C.
