FLOWERED MATERIALS

FOR AFTERNOON FROCKS. This season flowered materials arc very much “ the thing” for afternoon and evening wear. Every girl loves flowers, and now that she can indulge to her heart’s content in the now deli-cately-tinted flora! fabrics she should be happy. VVe must choose only those styles make our hips look slim. Skirts continue to flare, and godets have returned to popularity. Pleats are still “ in,” and many knife-pleated skirts are worn with jumpers. True, box-pleats are not popular just now, but we still see a few small pleats at one side of a plain skirt. Everything must be in the tailored style. Frocks of very light material as well ns coats of thin tweed, are perfectly cut. They are not “ fluffy,” but are of exquisite “ line.” The home dressmaker can achieve this effect if she exercises sufficient care with pressing. Sleeves aro tight-fitting, and so are f * all of'a piece ” ■with the slim outline of the frock itself. One mode] had an elbow-length sleeve of matching material, with tight sleeves of sunburntinted material reaching to the wrists. The stockings wore in exactly the same shade. Women with a tendency towards plumpness should avoid all frills and “ fussy ” trimmings. Plain, tight sleeves and a fairly long skirt are advisable, especially when the wearer is short as well as plump. There are still many fastenings on the backs of dresses. When 1 say fastenings, of course, I mean imitation ones, for none of tlm modern dresses ever do have fastenings anywhere. There are rows of tiny buttons, or.just a littl - blouse-elf ct at the back of the waist, the front being plain.
