At 7.-10, at IYA this evening, Mr H. Hollingrake, Mus. Buc., will fi«vo a lecture on ‘Melody’ (AV.lt. A. senes). In addition to Madame Mary Towaey s quartet, the vocalists at 11A will include new radio performers m the per«ons of Miss Nancy O’Connor, Miss Ella Mines, and Miss Tna Scholium. the programme will include several operatic selections, and there will be a further instalment of tho grand opera Carmen.’ when Act IV. will be presented Orchestral items on the programme will be provided by tho Studio Orchestra and by a relay from the Majestic Theatre There will he n pinnnioi te nov city by Mr Eric Waters. Two elocutionary numbers are on the programnv for rendition by ivlrs Culfon.l l/01l *1 scene from ‘ The Heart of Midlothian and a humorous number. ‘, Reducing.’ 2VA’s programme should find f«vmu with varving tastes. Baritone solos h\ Mr Chide Moss'will he ‘ Tho Arrow and the Song.’ and two Maori songs, ‘ Hoea lla ’ and ' Tahi nei toru Kino.’ Hie Two Boiled Owls will also bo on the programme, their items comprising a humorous sketch, novelty, instrumental. and vocal numbers. Mrs E. Miller a newcomer to the microphone, will be hoard in several numbers from musical comedies, and popular songs will be sung bv Mr Maurice Chapman. Ihe orchestral items will be bright am’ varied. This being race week in Christchurch TYA will not observe the usual silein dav. but will present a bright vaudeville entertainment. This will be in the hands of the Revellers’ Conner Party. A diversified programme will bo presented, comprising solos, ehor uses, recitations, and sketches. ‘ Greece and the Modern World ’ will he the title of a W.E.A. lecturette at i.YA this evening, at 7.30, by Professor Brown. A first-rate programme o ! •aried items will bo presented by the It. Kilda Band. The items will n Red Gauntlet' and ‘ Love and Hon mr ’ (marches), Beethoven’s ‘Eroica. The Soldiers’ Chorus ’ (from ‘ Faust ’> i waltz. ‘Tout Pour Toi,’ and Hume’iverture ‘Zifella-’ Tim re will be a cor •iet solo. * When You Come Rome Tiss EveWn Shepherd (mezzo-soprano and Mr A. G. Cooke (bass) will lief•ocalists, while elocutionary recitn' - will be given by Mr C. Russell Smith.
