THE RELIEF FUNDS

The earthquake relief hinds in Auckland continue to grow rapidly. The ‘New Zealand Herald’s’ fund stands at £6.967. the mayor’s fund at £6,369, and the Auckland ‘Star’ luncl at £2.113. This makes a total of £15,449, and in addition there arc suburban lists which amount to several hundreds ol pounds. After a discussion on the earthquake disaster at the meeting of the_ Green Island Borough Council last night it was decided to make a donation of £2o to the relief hind. At the monthly meeting of the Bruce County Council yesterday it was decided to contribute £25 to the relief fund. A motion of condolence with the relatives of those who lost their lives in the recent earthquake disaster was earned. At the monthly meeting of the_ Otago branch of The Society oi Railway Servants the following niotion was passed That this meeting expresses its heartfelt sympathy with those who suffered bereavement and other losses owing to the recent earthquake."
