The Hon. T. K. Sidcy, AttorneyGeneral, left to-day for Wellington. He expects to .return for the University Council meeting. Mr Walter Downs was a passenger for Wellington by the 11.34 train today. Mr John P. Pago is on his way back to Wellington, having travelled from Dunedin ■ to-day by the through express. Mr R. H. Aldworth was farewelled on the Dunedin station tin’s morning as he started for his home at Otaki. He has resigned the position of judge to the Dunedin Jockey Club after fifteen years’ faithful service, and the chili is very sorry to lose him. Mr Angus Gordon, stipendiary Steward, started this morning on his return journey to Auckland. Racehorse owners who wont north by the through express to-day were Mr P. Thorpy and Mr J. Behan (West Coast), and. Mr J. Cochran (Wellington). A cable from London advises that Dr H. S. Billciiff, medical superintendent of the Ashburton County Hospital, has gained his degree of F.R.C.S., England. Last year Dr Billciiff received the same degree of the Edinburgh University. Before his appointment to Ashburton he was senior house surgeon at the Dunedin Hospital. Members of the. executive of the Dunedin Centre, St. John Ambulance Association, met yesterday at luncli at the Savoy to hid farewell to the Rev. G. E. Moreton, who is leaving on a visit to England with the Boy, Scouts selected to represent New Zealand at the jamboree. Mr Moreton is well known in connection with Red Cross work in New Zealand. During 1915 he attended as Dunedin delegate both the large conferences held in Wellington to consider the question of war work and co-operation among the societies. Colonels Barclay, Will, and Falconer, Major Borrie, Mrs Davies, and Messrs G. Moir and J. H. Hanson, referred to the useful work which. Mr Moreton had done in Dunedin, laying ' particular stress on the services rendered by him in connection with flood relief and other social activities. The death took place last Friday at Gisborne of ex-Constable Martin Campbell. originally of Invercargill, and later of Dunedin, at tbe age of thirty-nine years. Mr Campbell went to the Gisborne Police Station seven or eight years ago, and was later posted to Port Awanul. While there, he suffered an injury, as a result of wdiieh his health began to fail, and shortly after being transferred' back to Gisborne in 1927 he resigned from the force. Mr Campbell leaves a widow and a young family of two sons and two daughters. The death is announced of Mrs Margaret Rosindale, the first white child horn at Lyttelton after the arrival of the first four ships Mrs Rosindale’s parents, Mr and Mrs John Whitmore, arrived hy the Cressy, Mrs Rosindale being born three weeks after arrival, on January 22. ISSL She spent most of her life in' Lyttelton, marrying Nathan Neville in 1573. Her first husband died twenty-five years ago. She then married Mr M. 'Rosindale, who survives her. _ She leaves two sons— Mr J. S. Neville, town clerk of Christchurch, and Mr J. M. Neville, postmaster at Lyttelton,—Christchurch correspondent. The latest guests at the Grand Hotel include Mr Lloyd K. Grenlie (Byrd Antarctic expedition!. Professor W. Riddct (Palmerston North), Mr and Mrs G. Rosenbaum, Mrs A. R. Wallis, Dr G. J. Rcakes, Messrs H. A. Le Pine, W. R. -Kent, and W. E. Reid (Wei? lington), Mr H. W. Wilkins (Christchurch). Late arrivals at the Excelsior Hotel include Mr S. H. Head (Wellington), Mr and Mis F. W. Gresham, Miss B. Gresham (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs M'Dougall, Mr A. E. Manley (Oamarn). Among those staying at the City Hotel are Miss R. Bennell. Mr A. Wilson (Wellington), Mrs IT. Johnston, Miss Johnston (llawca), Miss E. Hyde, Mr F. Hyde (Tanas), Mr M. Lloeli (Mandeville), Mr A. Dixon (Gore), Airs J. D. Irving (Otautan), Mr IT, W. Royds (Invercargill).
