Hunter’s Mocm was the first to break the line, followed by Trigo, Gay Day, Reedsmouth, and En Garde, and led up the Kill. Hunter’s Moon and Le Yoleur were ahead at the mile. Trigo moved iii) finely, and with Hunter’s Moon rounded ‘ Tattcnham Corner ahead of the field, after which Trigo, going strqnglv, appeared to have the race won. ‘Walter Gay challenged vigorously in the straight, but was unable to catch the leader. Hunter’s Moon was fourth. Koni fell at Tottenham Corner, and finished riderless.—United Service. [The winner started five times as a two-year-old for two wins, a second, and a third. He won the _ Phoenix Plate £l,lBO, at'the 'Phoenix Park Meeting, of five furlongs, carrying Bst 71b in liniii 1 4-osec, and tho Anglesey Stakes, £472, at the Curragh Meeting, of six furlongs 63yds. All hut £50,000 of the £1,000,000 (which the organisers of the Stock Exchange Mutual Subscription Fund (the Derby “Sweep”) set themselves to collect this year has now been subscribed. ft is expected that the remaining tickets will ho sold the lists closed to-day or to-morrow (said an English exchange in March). The draw will take place during the last week of April or tho first week of Mav. No decision has yet bean readied as to the number and scope of the prizes, but the organisers aim at a much wider distribution than was made last vear. One suggestion is that there he 1.000 prizes, "or one for every 1,000 tickets issued. There were 430 prizes of £SOO each last year in addition to the four big prizes of £125,000, £60,000, £30,000, and £20,000. If the number of £SOO prizes were to he raised to £I,OOO this year there would still be ample margin to maintain or even increase the size of the four big prizes after making allowance for the 10 per cent, of £IOO,OOO that will be distributed to charities.
