FOUND DROWNED
The identity of the body of an elderly man found in the Inner Harbour, Napier, on May 25 has been established by means of linger prints. The deceased’s name was Colhngwood, alias '-Mackenzie, alms Martin, aged sixtyfour years, and his occupation that of ali reman or a labourei. At the inquest a verdict of found drowned was re turned-—Press Association. INJURED BY CAR. Severe internal injuries were received by the t!irce-ycar-old son of Mr and Airs J. K. Wakely when iho boy’s mother was backing a motor ear from a shed at Patoka. The mother evidently was not aware of the child’s presence at the back of tlio par, a, back and front wheel of which passed over him. The hoy was brought to the Napier Hospital, where an operation was performed. His condition is serious. LEFT LEG FRACTURE. Through falling in Castle street last evening, William M'Adie, a bootmaker, residing at 31G King street, fractured Jiis left leg, necessitating his removal to the hospital at 9.40. BURNED TO DEATH. James looker, single, aged about sixty, employed as a stud groom, was burned to death in his lint near Winton. Passers-by saw the hut ablaze, and later found the man’s remains in the. debris. The deceased was in the habit of smoking in bed, and a spark from his pipe is supposed to have been the cause of the lire. Press Association telegram. FATAL SPINE INJURIES. The death occurred last night at the county hospital of Clarence Spence, a young married man, of Ruakituri. The deceased slipped while practising football, and fractured his spine.—Wairoa Press Association telegram.
