MR PERRELIE TO TOUR CENTRAL i The Minister--of Internal Affairs (Hon, P./A. do, la Perrelle) was busily eiigiigod' tills morning on departmental business and receiving callers on matters bf a; private- nature, but did not deal with anything of a public nature. To-morrow’, .morning : Mr Perrelle willleave by motor car tor Lawrence, Beaumont, and Alexandra,‘staying the night at the last-mentioned place. On Friday, ho will proceed to Cromwell, Arrovytown, and' where he will spend the night-. On Saturday he will proceed - to Winton, leaving there on Sunday' night for Dunedin and Christ-, .church, and will go on ,to Wellington on Monday night. , Yesterday afternoon the Hon. Mr Perrelle’ visited the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s course, where he was met by the president (Mr B. S. Irwin) and other executive members.Application was made to the Minister for additional totalisator permits lor. the club. Mr do la Perrelle congratulated tbe club on the splendid appointments for. the public provided by the club, and said that he would be very, pilcased to place on record the application made to him. Unfortunately, the Minister said, there were no trotting permits available, but should one fall in for reallocation he would b« glad to consider the . application of the Dunedin club. , After visiting Forbury Park, Mr Perrelle was invited to meet the executive members of the Otago Commercial Travellers’ Club. A very warm welcome was extended to the Minister, by Mr W. Thomson (president). Addressing the gathering, Mr Perrelle said he was delighted to meet-the Otagomembers of an organisation which had clone splendid philanthropic work throughout New Zealand. There was no doubt that the commercial travellers’ organisation had rendered to the whole of New Zealand a wonderful service in the cause of charity, and that fact was recognised by Sir Joseph Ward and members of his Cabinet. Any assistance that ho as an individual member of the Cabinet could render towards the achievement of the objects of the club would be willingly given. It wa* such institutions as that of the commercial travellers that helped in a great service, and any assistance granted was always appreciated.
