CANBERRA, March 21. (Received March 21, at 11 a.m.)

At Broken Hill all the mines arc idle in consequence' of the Barrier Industrial Council’s call for a twenty-four-hour stoppage as a protest against the amendments to the Workers Compensation Act. The demonstrators marched through the streets, and interviewed the mayor at the Town Hall. They then sent a telegram to Ihe Government asking that the measure he withdrawn or modified to a humane degree.
