Air Charles Todd wrote asking the council to accept the trusteeship of the aiea at Green Island which be bad purchased for the purpose of providing an aerodrome for the city and district. In moi ing that Hie letter be relerred lo the Einance Committee, Cr Black said be thought that it was very gratifying indeed to have such a publicmiiuled citizen coming forward with such a gift. The reports of the Library, Reserves, General and Works Committees were adopted without discussion. In speaking on the motion lor the adoption of the report of the Water Committer-, Ci Alunro brought up the question of supplying the Leith Valley settlers with a water service. There were not a large number of settlers there, said Cr Alunro, but they could not understand why water had been taken to eveiv pat t ol the city but not to the Leith Valley It was thought that when Hie Snlliva.. Dam was completed that these settl-ws would have a water supply, but op to the present time nothing bad been done. Cr Campbell asked if the chairman of the committee could give any indicalion as lo lu>w Roslyu would ho without water. In reply, Cr Begg said that with regard to waler for the Leith \ alley settlers, the position was that the Sullivan Dam and Alomsoii Creek water ready passed by those people’s doors, but it the council attempted to lap that supplv the watei would not to inon: service reservoir in Roslyn. 'J he water could not hi lapped any further. Unfortunately that was the position, and if the supply was tapped Roslyn would have to ha ‘ supplied with water as n was being supplied at the present tune —bv a water cart, ft was a pity inat no provision whs made lor Leith Valley residents when the Sullivan Dam was built, but lie assured those residents that the matter bad not been lost, sight of. It was hoped to ba\c the supply restored to Roslyn in two or three days. It. might be less or it might be more, but there again flic weather would be an important factor. 'The report was adopted. GAS COAIM TITLE. ‘•’The department got out nl Hie matter comparatively easily. Holy one main was carried away.” said Cr Scott, when, in moving the adoption of the Gas Committee's report, he referred lo the ravages of the flood.
