THE BUfIGH FOR WAiKOUAITI [Special to tub ‘ Stab.T C.HDISTCHUHCH, December 25). E. P. Claridgo will leave on Monday for Waikouaiti, where he will race Beau Geste, Water low, and Evening. They are in excellent order. Beau Gests, in particular, bears an improved appearance as the result ol his spring racing, and he is likely to earn further distinction during the remainder of the season. .1. Boyd gave Front Dank and Pahuutanui some strung work to-day. They are in the best of health, and they will go south op Monday _ to tub lil engagements at the 'Waikouaiti meeting. Buovant and Arrowmir will leave on Monday for Waikouaiti, where they should, race well, as they are in good fettle. , , . Limerick was given a few sprints before F. D. Jones left for the north, and how he is being kept to useful pacing.. Ho is in the best of health, and when his trainer returns he can soon bo got ready for the Haziett Memorial Plate at the Dunedin February meeting, that being the next race mapped out for him. Prickles, (Jhildsplay, Quarterdeck, Full Feather, Swoopalong, and Semper Paratus arc getting through plenty of useful work. It is probable that this half dozen will represent Sir George Clifford at the ’Wellington meeting next month. G. Murray Aynsley has had Paperchase, Chide, and Starshooter doing useful work lately, in view of the trip to Trentham next month. The unfavourable weather, however, has interfered with their preparation, and they are all backkard. Unless track conditions improve very soon they may not be considered ready for racing quite so early.
