SECOND GRADE A Christian Brothers Old Boys (158) defeated North-east Valley (51 and 99) by an -innings and 8 runs. For the winners F. Toomey (35), O’Connor (32), Parsons (21), M'Carten (18), Sullivan (12), and Russell (11) batted well, and Russell (eight for 27), Brookes (six for 54), and Parsons (four'for. 38) shared the bowling honours. For Northeast Valley Hughes«(2l and 18), Elliot (23), Bunn (14), J. Hope (12), Bell (11), and W. Hope (11) made the.best .scores. Cook took three for 43, Cullen two for 19, and Bunn two for 22. Caris brook beat Old Boys by 91 runs on the first innings. Old Boys offered a stubborn resistance, and i reached 197, mainly through the efforts of Dr Moore (64), Matheson (46), and J. Gould (24), all of whom played well. For Carisbrook G. Groves bowled well, taking seven wickets for 65 runs. Carisbrook D, continuing their first icings against Grange (201), made 220 i «'„s. Bowling for the winners Smith took six wickets for 12. Kaikorai 114 beat Old Boys 84. Harris (31), Crawford (32), and Vial and Stewart (10 each) batted well for Kaikorai, as did M'Mullen (24) and Cunningham (16) for Old Boys. Harris (six for 28) and H. Beath (three for 24) bowled well for Kaikorai, as did Harved for Old Boys. Christian Brothers nine wickets for 232 defeated High School Old Boys B 70. V. Cahill (71/not out), R. Cusack (67), P. Lauren (27 not out), W. Lowe (16), and V.- Cusack (13) batted best for Christian Brothers; while for High School Old Bovs Robertson made; 17 and Vivian 16. Bowling for Christian Brothers, R.'Cusack took three wickets for 19,V. Cahill two for 10, and V. Cusack one for 2 For High School Old Boys Robertson, Stewart, and Fowler secured the wickets. Knox Church 111' drew with Kaikorai B seven wickets for 110.
