CAMBRIAN SOCIETY
T he Cambrian Society of Otago hold a ;ery successful concert in Pioneers’ Hull last evening, and the large audience was treated to an excellent programme of vocal, musical, and elocutionary items by local entertainers. The concert opened witii the singing of the Welsh National Anthem, the soloist being Airs C. Grace, who sang two verses in Welsh and one in English. The Bov. G. E- Moreton (vice-presi-dent) said it was pleasing to know that there was a Welsh society in their midst. The Welsh had a glorious heritage, and there was no more loyal people. Wales had produced many notable men—politicians, poets, and musicians—and they were proud to know that they were descendants of true Welsh folk. They felt that they had a great inheritance, and by bringing the Welsh people together they were assisting to maintain tbo traditions of the Welsh rare. The local society, which had only recently been established, welcomed all Welsh folk and descendants of Welsh parents to its ranks. The formation of any new society was costly, and the concert was the executive’s first attempt to raise funds in aid of the society. The programme was then commenced, and the following items wore presented:—Songs—-‘ Tally Ho!’ ‘The Sea Hath Its Pearls,’ and ‘Men of Harlech,’ United Congregational Choir (under Mr W. It.
