CAR GOES OVER BANK
THREE PERSONS KILLED OTHERS INJURED [Prr. United Press Association.! COROM ANDE L, November 25. Three people were killed in a motor accident on Manaia Hill, near Coromandel, this afternoon, when a car driven by William Wilson and containing six others, capsized over a 60ft bank. The following were killed: — Mr Wilson sen. (father of the driver). Mrs Wilson (wife of Mr W. Wilson). Jessie Wilson, aged two (daughter of Mr W. Wilson). Those injured were:—W.-Wilson (injuries to shoulder and shock), B. S. Carroll (fracture of several ribs and bruises), Margaret Wilson (aged six, daughter of Air W. Wilson, slight injuries). The party was returning to the Thames in Mr Wilson’s car from a visit to Mi Prank Shepherd, mins manager or the Hauraki Gold Mining Company at Coromandel. Mr Wilson, sen., and Mrs Wilson were killed almost instantaneously, and Jessie Wilson died an hour_ later at Coromandel Hospital a few minutes after her admission. Tho accident occui’red at about 4 o’clock when the car was at tho top of the Manaia Hill, where the road is extremely rough and dangerous, with banks and stem* drops on either side. Mr Wilson thought ho heard _ another car approaching, and pulled into the hank away from tho edge. The wheels got into the water table, and it was necessary to put on speed to get the car out." It left the water table with a jump, and went suddenly over the side of the road, rolling a considerable distance down into a stock accommodation paddock below the road. The car. a new limousine which Mr Wilson had recently purchased, fras damaged beyond repair. Mr "Wilson is foreman at the Thames works of A. G Price, Ltd., whore he has been employed lor a long time. His father, a resident of Dcyonport, was spending a holiday with his son. Mrs Wilson was a daughter of Mr George Clark, a well-known Thames resident. Air Carroll is inspecting locomotive engineer to tho Railway Department in connection with the construction of railway engines' for the, department at Thames by Messrs Price. Ltd.
