I A Grey mouth Association telegram ! announces tho death of Mr William Robert Kettle, aged seventy-four. Ho was born in London, and arrived with Jds parents at Greymouth in 1874. Subsoquontlv ho started business ns a general merchant. Ho was during Ins career mayor, chairman of the Harbour Board, tho Grey Education Board, and tho Hospital Board, president of tho Chamber of Commerce, and he served cm ! numerous local bodies awl societies. Ho I was prominent in commercial concerns, racing and trotting clubs, was a FrecI mason and a Druid, and chairman of 1 the Greymouth ‘Evening Star’ Company. During the war he was a prom;* 1 nent monitor of tho Grey Patnoiio | Society. He" visited Honolulu for th« I Press Congress of J DSD. Air Kettle | celebrated his golden wedding this year.
