LONDON, November 20. (Received November 21, at 11 a.m.) Though it is not mentioned in tho Imperial Telegraph Bill, tho Australian Press Association has obtained , official confirmation that intcy-Empire wireless telephony will be reserve); lor control by the Post Office, and will not -be handed over to the' merger company. Tho fact emerges that the introduction of telephony to Australia is at least twelve mouths distant. The British Post Office, after observation ql the working of 'beam telephony, is convinced that telephony to Australia should bo by a separate beam with lower aerials and on generally cheaper principles. It lias a trial transmitter ready, and awaits' Australia's preparedness to experiment. If this is successful it will take nearly a year after that to manufacture the permanent plant and transmitters. No, device so far has . been discovered to overcome fading, in the lace ol which there-is a big'doubt, if telephony will have a commrcial appeal to Australia. —Australian Press Association.
