The Supremo Court was occupied today with the retrial of Robert trConkcy, a carpenter employed at the Aorangi Freezing Works, on a charge of indecent assault tin his stepdaughter, who is under sixteen years of age. Tire jury returned a verdict of not guilty. At the .previous trial the accused was found guilty, hut the Court of Appeal ordered a retrial on the ground that certain evidence for the prosecution had been called alter the Crown’s case had been closed.— Press Association. INVERCARGILL. Allen Edward Tubman, aged lwoir:y, charged with fraudulently slating, that he had posted a letter containing money, whereas, in tact, ho had not posted it, appeared for sentence. Tubman had purchased a motor cycle cu a time purchase agreement, and as ho was unable to pay the instalments on it ho claimed to have posted the ..mount when he had not done so. The ; censed was sentenced to twelve months in the Borstal Institution.—Press Association.
