Aucklanders uro preparing themselves for a penance in ashes when the Salvation Army there makes its procession of mourning and later nounces the sins of the Queen City. According to the. Dunedin officer, no procession will be held in Dunedin. The Auckland programme is part of a campaign in conjunction with the opening of a new hall. To attract public attention something out of the ordinary has to be attempted admitted one Army officer, and the commissioner had decided that a mourning procession should be held. Ho admitted that one had to be a showman these days, but it was also an opportune time to. show the people the correct road in life. . “Wo held a similar procession in Wellington a little over a year but as little prominence was given by the papers to the announcement, the procession was over before the public realised the purpose of it,” said tho officer.
