SCHUBERT CENTENARY CONCERT
Schubert is the musician who hinds all together in a great brotherhood. In this he is the Botarian or Toe H. of the musical world par excellence. Orchestral music, songs, piano, violin, or string quartet work flowed Irom him with equal brilliance in an output which continues to be the amazement of the musical world. At tho concert to bo given in Burns Hall on Tuesday night the great string quartet in E flat major, op. 125, No. 3, will be heard. The whole programme is rich in variety, and, besides other instrumental items such as the exquisite ‘ Impromptu in B Flat,’ op. 142, No. 3, and ‘Hark! Hark! the Lark,’ no loss than seventeen of the most magnificent songs ever written will be presented. Never before has such a programme of Schubert's works boon presented in this city, and everything points to a memorable evening. To-night from 8 till 9, Mr G. W. Johnstone, the enthusiast under whoso direction the concert is being held, will lecture on the songs of Schubert at tho Bristol concert chamber, and. important details in song and accompaniments will be demonstrated. All interested are invited to be present. Box plan arrangements are advertised.
