DASH TO RESCUE INJURED TRAMPER United Press Association. J WELLINGTON, Juno 12. Of tho two young married men Claponce Poyntcr (of 6 William street, Pc tone) and Mervyn Hodgkinson <o i 2 Oriental street, l.’etone), who wero lost in the bush at Waiuni sinco Sunday morning, tho former staggered into a homestead this afternoon incoherently explaining that he had boon forced to leave his mate, who was starving and light-headed and hurt, while no himself came on for assistance. To-night is icy cold, and first thing to-morrow morning Hampers will make a dash for the spot. It is doubtful whether Hodgkinson will bo found alive. THREE PARTIES OUT [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, June 13. Three parties went out to-day, including members of tho Hutt Valley and Tararua Tramping Clubs, to rescue Hodgkinson. Snow fell on the ranges last night, and tho task of tho parties is a severe one, particularly as Hodgkinson may have wandered away from the spot with the bad night and tho lack of anything to sustain him. Ho must bo in a serious plight.
