SHANGHAI, May 2. ; (Received May 3, at 11.20 a.m.) A Japanese news agency reports that the withdrawal has been ordered from Tsinan of the Japanese troops sent to protect Nationalists, as the crisis is passed and order is restored. Other reports state that the Japanese forces are continuing towards Tsinan, and have already conflicted with the Chinese looters, necessitating the use of firearms. The Southern troops are well disciplined, but the Northerners are scattered and leaderless, and are retreating pell mell across the Yellow diver. The Shantung province is rapidly filling with Northen deserters and defeated troops. The authorities are preparing to offer a stubborn resistance. The Southerners nest objective is believed to be Tientsin, which is occupied with many -foreign troops.—Australian Press Association-United Ser-
