‘WHITE GOLD '
A POWERFUL STORY OF ARIZONA. Striking a new and higher note in motion picture production, ‘White Gold,’ a now picture starring Jetta Goiulal and featuring Kenneth Thomson as leading man, o|kuu> at the Empire Theatre to-morrow. Filled with dramatic action, tcuscful and compelling, this is said to be one of the most unusual photoplays in which the exotic Jotta Gondal has appeared, and all who witnessed her remarkable _ work in ‘ Three Faces East ’ will await her latest starring effort with genuine interest. The scenes of the story are laid on a sheep ranch in Arizona. Dolores Carson, a dancer, longing for home life, weds Alee Carson, the son of a sheep rancher. Tho latter disapproves of the marriage, and makes life miserable for his daughter-in law. A drought of long standing is killing off the sheep, and the young wife, who sincorclv loves her husband, finds herself neglected. Sam Randall, a herder, seeks to win her from her husband, who, engrossed in his dying sheep, pay* her little attention. The climax is reached when Randall is killed by Dolores after he invades the young wife’s room. The finale is as remarkable as it is natural, but it would be unfair to the public to reveal it. Hero is a story which provides Miss Ooudal with abundant opportunitiea for the display of her talents as a dramatic actress of remarkable power. In directing the picture, William K. Howard departed from tho accepted standards of picture production and established a precedent, that of discarding the scenarist’s script and 'developing the plot according to the psychology of tho players and the events as they transpire. The motivation is said to have reached a high tempo in consequence, and to have been maintained until the final scene was filmed The result is reported to be one of tbe most unusual’photoplays thus far produced this season. The east embraces screen artists of prominence. They are George Nicholas. George Bancroft, Robert Perry, and Civile Conk.
