plenty of water available In moving tlie adoption of the report of tho Electric Power and Lighting Committee Cr Shacklock told the City Council last night that the dam at Waipori was overflowing, and said this indicated the necessity of increased water storage. The probability was that from now till the end of tho year tho dam would continue to overflow and water run in waste to the sea. The water level, said Cr Shacklock, stood at 41ft Sin on April 24, it having risen from 31ft on April 16. This represented an increase in stored water of about 9,500 acre-feet in eight days. Intimation was sent to the Lawrence, mining companies on April 21 that water would not be required from them after April 28. Cr Shacklock pointed out that authority had been given to invite tenders for (a) supply of cement for the Mahinerangi dam construction, (b) cartage of cement to Mahinerangi dam, (c) manufacture and supply of a 7ft diameter steel, pipe line for connecting tho new No. 1 power statioti to the existing 43ft dam. The report of the committee was adopted. _________
