FOOD FRIDAY TRAINS.
UUU-LJ J TO TIXK UDITOH Sir,—l notice in my letter of yesterday’s date that a slip of the pen has caused the word “(esthetic” to appear instead of “atheistic.” Our_ friend “ E.W.F.” may bo neither inclined to atheism nor agnosticism; lie may merely have come short of the Christian standard. Whatever criticism we make now, the public has dealt wisely in disregarding “E.W.F.” of as of an avowedly unpopular type. The people to-day want a more practical application of Christianity, while they hold that Christ’s teachings know neither Jew nor Gentile, rite nor ceremony. “E.W.F.,” however, does not label us pagan on that account surely. No; tlio mass of civilised people have a keen respect for Christianity because its Founder was above the petty divisions inltoman Catholic and Protestant, ranks. Only a reunion of these two great Churches on IT is first principles can moan anything to the millions ol others who, though outside, are nevertheless Christian. Now 1 join the other members ol the great public and keep silence, “E.W.F.’s” forces being spent, needlessly it seems.—T am, etc., May 2. CnmsTiAN New Zealand.
