Mr John Nome and his wife, of LaAvrence, returned last night from a month’s holiday in the North Island. Mr L. Doans Ritchie is back from Wellington, Mr Jack' Hunter Main, solicitor, of Oamaru, was this morning admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court by His Hon,our Mr Justice Sim. Mr J. M. Divyer, of Waimate, has been appointed to the staff of the Magistrate’s Court, Dunedin. Mr S. H. Osborn left by the first express, this morning to adjudicate at the Mamwatu Competitions. Feeling reference to the death of the Ho/n. Mark Cohen, M.L.C., was made at the annual meeting or the Free Kindergarten Association yesterday. The mayor (Mr W. B. Taverner) spoke of the great work and untiring energy of Mr Cohen and the keen intelligence he had brought to bear on child welfare matters. The Avork of the association had been very dear to him formally years. Mrs D. Phillips, the president of the association, said that Mr Cohen Avas one of the founders of the organisation, and ever since its inception had been a most ardent supporter. The Hon. G. M. Thomson paid a tribute to the extraordinary zeal and industry of Mr Cohen in matters appertaining to child Avelfare. A sincere motion of sympathy was earned in the customary manner. . Now visitors to the Grand Hotel include Mr and Mrs Frazer Gauge (New York and London), Mr E. J. Gravestock, Miss E. Conley (Sydney), Messrs A. Hall and Hiley (Wellington), Mr and Mrs W. Fieldgate, and Mr J. M'Kibbin. . ~, ~ , • Among those staying at the Excelsior Hotel are Mr W. Chick (Hawke s Bay), Mr J. A.
