The Dominion Meteorologist (Dr E Kidson) supplied the following at noon to-day:—The indications are for southerly winds, moderate to strong; expect changeable and showery weather, and it will probably become colder; barometer rising; tides good, sea tough. ARRIVED.—May 2. Breeze, s.s. (2.20 a.m.), 512 tons, AFKenzie, from Wanganui via ports. Oreti, s.s. (5.15 a.m.), 174 tons, AFKenzie, from Port Craig. The Breeze arrived this morning from Lyttelton, and is timed to sail to-night for Timaru j Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Storm is due on Friday from Lyttelton. Sho is to discharge and load general cargo here, and is to sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and “Wanganui. The Kanna, from Lyttelton, is due here on Friday. The KairaiJga was to leave Wellington to-day for Dunedin to load on Friday for Auckland via ports. The American steamer West Elcajon, which arrived at Auckland on Monday from Pacific Coast ports, wall discharge general cargo at Auckland, 'Wellington, and Lyttelton. The Turakina will now load for London only. She is to commence loading at Oainnru on May 17, and will then go to Timaru, Lyttelton, Picton, and Wellington to complete. The vessel is due at Wellington on Juno 3 to till up, and will sail finally from that port, on June's for London via Panama The Fort Auckland is to sail from Wellington to-morrow for Lyttelton, Timaru. and New Plymouth to complete discharge of her London cargo. THE MATAROA. The Mataroa, which sailed from Wellington on March 18 for London via Panama, is reported to have arrived at Southampton on Thursday. FORT DUNEDIN TO LOAD, The C. and D. Line advises that the Port Dunedin is to commence loading at New Plymouth on May 26 tor London. She will subsequently load also at Wanganui, Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on June 8, and will sat! finally from that port on June 10 for London via Panama. PERSONAL. Captain J. W. Cameron, late master of the Poolta, has been appointed head stevedore at Auckland for the Shaw, Sa,vill, and Albion Company, in place of the late Mr John ArDougall, who died recently. Captain J. W. Johnson is now master of the Maimoa, which arrived at Wellington on Saturday might from Gladstone (Queensland), and his ogeers are; Chief, Mr D. Atchesoa; second, Mr B. Moliatt; third, Mr A. Masters; fourth, Mr C. Williams; wireless operator, Mr A. M'Ara; chief engineer, Mr A. Magowan; second, Mr O. Walker: third, Mr Pearce: fourth, Mr Galbraith; fifth, Mr VvTicway; sixth, Mr P.aliner; seventh, Mr Huddart; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr Bjorck; second, Mr Terry; chief steward, Air Northcote. WHITE STAR CANADIAN SERVICE. Tho announcement has been made at, the New York headquarters of the White Star Line that its Canadian service will open this year with the sailing of the Calgaric flora Montreal on April 28 for Liverpool. Considerable interest attaches to the resumption of the service this year, because of the addition to the Canadian fleet of the new 19,000-ton steamer Lanrentic. Built in 1927, the Lanrentic made two cruises to the Mediterranean last winter, and will make her first voyage to Montreal early in May. sailing from the St. Lawrence terminal on the 12th of that month. Operating with the Lanrentic will be the Calgaric, Regina, and Doric, providing a weekly passenger and freight service between Montreal and Liverpool. PACIFIC MAIL SERVICES. Tahiti loft Wellington San Francisco via Rarotonga and Papeete; due San Francisco May 11. Makura left San Francisco April 18 for Wellington and Sydney via Papeete and Rarotonga; duo Wellington May 7. Niagara leaves Sydney May 3 and Auckland May 8 for Vancouver via Suva and Honolulu; due Vancouver May 25. Aorangi leaves Vancouver May 2 for .Auckland and Sydney via Honolulu and Suva; due Auckland May 20. SOMERSET’S LOADING. The steamer Somerset left' Lyttelton yesterday for Timaru, P.ort Chalmers, "and Wellington to complete loading for London and West Coast-of England ports. She is to sail finally from Wellington about May 11. . .

MELBOURNE PASSENGER SERVICE. The Union Company advises that the passenger steamer Manuka was to leave Melbourne to-day for Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Wellington. She is due at this port on Tuesday to land passengers and discharge general cargo. VESSELS* IN WIRELESS CALL.
