FIRST DAY’S POLLING A HUMOROUS TOUGH. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, April 22. (Received April 23, at 12.45 p.m.) Tho first day's polling in the elections was orderly-, and had a humorous side. The Communist candidates’ poster declared “ Vote for nobody, least of all me.” . The failure of AT. Bokanowsky (Air Minister) adequately to support Captains Costes and Lo Brix in their round-the-world flight, led to stormy scones in his constituency, crowds shouting “ A has Bokanows.kv.”
The results of tho poll aro not expected to bo surprising, though the polling was heavy, 11,000,000 people voting. There are 3,750 candidates, and 200 will bd elected. The second ballot for selecting the remaining 412 deputies will bo held on April 29. Tho ratio of occupations among tho candidates was:—Barristers, 385; journalists, 2G6; workers, 200; farmers, 186; doctors, 159; teachers, 90; bankers, 8; priests, 7.—United Service.
