STABBED IN ABDOMEN
MIGHT AFFRAY AT MILTON YOUNG MAH IN LOCAL HOSPITAL When waiting for a young lady in Milton last night Arthur Lloyd was stabbed in the abdomen, it is alleged, by William Hassett. Lloyd is now in the Milton Hospital, but his condition is not serious. At about 10 o’clock last night Lloyd, who is about twenty-one years of age and an employee of the Public l\orks Department at Hnlclutha, was waiting at the gate of a home in Union stieet for a young lady when Hassett came along. Hassett, according to reports, had kept company previously with the young lady. Lloyd asked him what he was waiting lor, and Hassett replied, “Nothing.” Hassett is stated to have then caught Lloyd by the hroat and stabbed him in the abdomen with a knife.
The injured man’s call was heard by neighbors, who summoned Dr Ldgar, superintendent of the Wilton Hospital. Lloyd was removed to hospital, where an examination revealed a wound in the abdomen one inch wide and two inches deep. His condition was reported this afternoon as not being serious.
Hassett, who is a laborer living at Milton, had not been arrested up till 2 p.m. to-day, at which hour the Wilton police were making inquiries ior him. ...
