DIET IN NEW ZEALAND
The Homo Economics Association lectures for this season are concerned with a study of diet in New Zealand. In the early days of colonisation the limited variety of foodstuffs gave use to a characteristic dietary, which, while often containing excess of certain foods, is lacking in constituents essential for the establishing of healthy adult life—for much of the ill-health, of maturity can be traced back to the defects of diet in childhood. The aim of the lectures is to find out the weaknesses of the present-day menus and to build up a well-proportioned bill of faro by understanding and making the most of the material at our disposal. As the lecturers are experts in the subject, it is ensured that their knowledge, expressed in simple form and illustrated by foods and food demonstrations, will prove most interesting and helpful.
